Reliable data systems depend on precise rules for how data changes. My work on Delta Lake centres on deletion vectors and the protocol that lets different implementations agree on what a table means.

Can a programming model make distributed systems easier to express without giving up performance? Kompact grew out of my doctoral research, combining actors, typed components and Rust’s compile-time checks.
